Anyone who has sat in a waiting room with an animal that cannot be told what is happening knows the particular helplessness of it. You are the person who knows this animal — its habits, its moods, the small things that are slightly off this week — and you are also the least equipped person in the room. We are going to be careful about what we say next, because this is a field where confident promises get made about animals who are in no position to contradict them.
What Oberon Pets is
Oberon Pets brings our non-invasive biofeedback system to animals. It runs on the same NLS technology as the software people use for themselves, adapted for animal anatomy, and it is used both by owners at home and by veterinary practices that want a complementary, non-invasive option alongside the care they already provide.
It is a wellness practice, and we should be plain about the limits of that: it is not an assessment of your animal’s health, and it does not tell you what is wrong with them. Nothing replaces what a veterinarian does with their hands, their eyes and a laboratory. What Oberon Pets offers is something calm and unhurried that you can do with your animal, at home, as often as you like.
What a session is actually like
This is what owners ask about first, and it is the honest strength of the system.
No needles. No blood draws. No restraint, no muzzle, nothing held still against its will, nothing that stings. For an animal that already tenses at the sight of a carrier or a trailer, that is not a small difference. A great many animals find the vet frightening, and there is little to be done about that except not to add to it unnecessarily.
A session is quiet. The animal sits or stands with you, and most settle within a minute or two. Some fall asleep. With a puppy it takes a certain amount of ingenuity to hold their attention, but it is generally an easy few minutes rather than something to be got through.
Why dogs and horses
We began with dogs and horses on purpose. Both are animals people are involved with daily, both have owners who tend to notice things, and both gave us enough anatomical detail to build something specific rather than something generic. Other species may follow.
How this sits with your vet
This is the part we most want to get right, because the earlier version of this page had it exactly backwards.
Oberon Pets is not a way to spend less on veterinary care, and it is not a reason to go less often. We would hope for the opposite. Owners who spend regular, unhurried, attentive time with their animal are the ones who notice the changed gait, the hesitation on the stairs, the dog that has gone quiet — and who therefore telephone the vet in the first week rather than the third.
Noticing early is worth more than any piece of equipment. If Oberon Pets does one genuinely useful thing, we would like it to be that.
So keep the check-ups. Follow what is prescribed. Take your observations to your vet, where they belong, and let them do the part that is theirs to do.
What Oberon Pets does not do
An animal cannot tell you that something hurts, cannot say it is getting worse, and cannot ask for a second opinion. That makes being precise here more important than anywhere else on our site.
- It does not diagnose. It does not find illness, infection or disease, it does not identify causes, and it does not detect anything before symptoms appear.
- It is not a treatment for any condition, and not an alternative to one.
- It is not a medical or veterinary device, and it is not FDA-approved.
- It is never a reason to change, reduce or stop anything your vet has prescribed.
- Experiences differ from one animal and one owner to the next, and we make no promises about results.
If your animal is off its food, in pain, lethargic, limping, or simply not itself — call your vet. Not us, and not the software.
