Biofeedback and Blood Pressure

Biofeedback and Blood Pressure

About this article: This is a general educational overview, not a step-by-step guide. It explains how the technology works in broad terms — it is not a session protocol and not medical advice. If you own an Oberon system, follow your official training materials and your personal manager for anything practical.

Search for “biofeedback and blood pressure” and you will find plenty of pages willing to imply a great deal. This one does the opposite, because on this particular subject the honest answer is more useful than an optimistic one.

The medical part is not ours to write

High blood pressure is common, it often causes no symptoms for years, and left unmanaged it carries real risk to the heart, brain, kidneys and eyes. None of that is in dispute — but we are a wellness technology company, not a medical one, and information about a cardiovascular condition should come from people qualified to give it.

So instead of paraphrasing it here, we will point you to the source we would use ourselves: the American Heart Association’s high blood pressure hub, which covers what the numbers mean, which risk factors matter, and how blood pressure is monitored and managed. They also have a short animation of how blood pressure works if you would rather watch than read.

If you have not had your blood pressure checked recently, that is the genuinely useful thing to do after reading this page — not buying anything.

So why does blood pressure come up in biofeedback conversations?

One reason, and it is a narrow one: stress.

Stress raises blood pressure in the moment, and chronic stress is generally recognised as a contributing factor alongside weight, smoking, alcohol, inactivity, diet, age and family history. Because of that, stress management appears in most mainstream guidance on blood pressure — not as a treatment in its own right, but as one item in a wider set of lifestyle changes that also includes the harder, less appealing ones.

Biofeedback, in its clinical sense, is a way of learning that skill. Equipment shows you something your body is doing that you cannot normally perceive precisely — muscle tension, breathing rate, skin temperature — and with practice you learn to notice tension rising and to settle it. That is a real skill with real value, and we go into it properly in our guide to biofeedback for stress and everyday tension.

What it is not is a way to bring blood pressure “under control.” That distinction is the entire point of this page.

What Oberon does not do

Being specific matters more here than anywhere else on our site.

  • Oberon does not measure blood pressure. It is not a monitor and not a substitute for one. To track your numbers you need a validated blood pressure cuff.
  • It does not diagnose hypertension, or anything else. It is not a medical device and it is not FDA-approved.
  • It is not a treatment for high blood pressure, and it is not an alternative to one.
  • It is never a reason to change medication. Do not stop, reduce or skip blood pressure medication because of an Oberon session, or because someone suggested a natural approach could take its place. Blood pressure medication is often working precisely when you feel nothing at all. That conversation belongs with the doctor who prescribed it, and with nobody else.

Where the system does fit

Oberon is a non-invasive, frequency-based wellness system that people use for relaxation and general wellbeing. If lowering everyday stress is something you are working on, alongside the lifestyle changes your doctor has actually recommended, that is the honest context for it — a complementary practice sitting next to the real work, not in place of it.

If you would like to know what a session involves, our walkthrough of the scanning process explains it step by step. And if this reads as more modest than you would expect from a company that sells the equipment — good. We would rather you buy it understanding what it is.
